Broken Wings

She had a dream, she is Cinderella,
Her prince will come on a white horse,
Sweeping her away in his arms,
Galloping away from life of worse.

She found a fairy Godmother,
who promised her, her dreams,
Would turn true if she surrenders,
Completely to Her whims.

On a dark night of silence,
Leaving stealthily her poor home,
With pennies and few rags she possessed,
She set out for unknown road to rome.

After covering acres and miles,
The Godmother brought her to a place,
With trembling torso, she realized,
she was now a hopeless case!

Futile attempts to set herself free,
told her shackles were too tight;
She surrendered to her ill fate,
Knowing this was the beginning of her plight.

Suitors came, suitors went,
she was their object of play,
The dream of her prince on a white steed,
did just in lifeless soul, lay.

She often tearfully wondered, with each passing day;
Was there a lot of cost?
To wish for a cozy home and love?
The happily ever after dream was lost!
